This is a place to call your own, somewhere to get creative and decorate your own way – to live surrounded by what you love. There are no rules.
The house we’ve created is a sanctuary from the outside world, adorned with prints and colours inspired by the sublime palette of nature. It’s not filled with lots of ‘stuff’ – only things that have a purpose, created for both their beauty and their meaning. We call them ‘future heirlooms’: artistically designed pieces made in England by craftsmen specialising in generations-old trades.
Everything else evokes a memory or a story. Photos, paintings… for these are the things that transform a house into a home.
In a Victorian townhouse in London Fields, Frieda Gormley and Javvy M Royle first dreamed up House of Hackney. Today, the husband-and-wife team has grown to a family of artists, designers, producers and collaborators.
On our doorstep is a special place called Hackney. A village-like borough of London with a melting pot of cultures and a colourful community of creatives that never fail to inspire us. It’s open and accepting of diversity – how life should be. In Hackney, anything is possible.
